Ayeyarwaddy Dolphin, quite common in this area. Lunch will
be served on board. In the afternoon, you will reach Katha,
a beautiful town with an interesting market, friendly
people, and a unique atmosphere. Katha is known from the
book “Burmese Days” written by George Orwell. Dinner and
overnight on board.
Day 4-
Katha- Tagaung
Breakfast on board. Set sail at 8:00 a.m. and continues
downstream until Tagaung, one of the oldest capitals of
Myanmar. Lunch will be served on board. Proceed for
sightseeing at Tagaung. Overnight and dinner on board just
south of Tagaung.
Day 5-
Tagaung – Kyaukmyaung
Breakfast on board. Start sailing at 8:00 a.m. until
Thabeikkyin. You will pass the Third Defile. Lunch will be
served. This area is covered with dense teak forest. Dinner
and overnight on board near Kyaukmyaung.
Day 6-
Kyaukmyaung – Mandalay
Breakfast on board. Set sail at 8:00 am down stream to
Nwe Nyein (potery village). After sightseeing, sailing down
stream to Mingun. Observe the world's largest ringing bell
cast by Bodawpaya in 1080 weighing 55555 viss which
calculated equal to 90 tons and Mingun Pahtodawgyi, an
enormous pile of bricks is all that remain of King Bodawpaya
ambition to make it the world's largest Buddhist stupa.
Other tour highlights are Settawya Pagoda with a marble foot
print of Buddha and Shin Byu Me Pagoda built in 19 century
by King Bagyidaw, Bodawpaya's grandson in memory of one of
his wives. After visit of Mingun, proceeds sail up to
Mandalay. Lunch on board. Disembark in the afternoon, after
arrival at Mandalay Jetty.
