Itinerary
Yangon/ Swittwe/ Mrauk-U
Day 1: Depart from Yangon by flight to Sittwe,
capital of Rakhine State. Upon arrival at Sittwe airport,
welcome by local guide and transfer to jetty to take about
five hours boat trip along Kaladan River to Mrauk-U, an
ancient capital of Rakhine dynasty. Arrival in the late
evening at Mrauk-U. Transfer to hotel by jeep or local van
without A/C for check-in. Overnight stay at hotel in Mrauk-U.
Mrauk-U
Day 2: Breakfast at hotel. Full day excursion at
Mrauk-U Oo which was once a centre for one of Myanmar's most
powerful Kingdoms. Sightseeing starts with Sakya Manaung
Pagoda, a graceful pagoda erected early 17 th Century
and protected by two life-like kneeling ogres; Radana
Manaung Pagoda, a mid 17th century stupa, a solid stone
structure, octagonal from the base to the top and
Laungbwann-brauk Pagoda, well known as the coloured
plaque pagoda from early 16th century. In the afternoon
visit Anndaw Thein Temple, with two inner pavements
inside the temple where a total of 142 Buddha images are
placed to be worshipped; Shitethaung Temple, the most
spectacular of King Mong Bong's massive temples with over
80,000 Buddha images and sculptures and Htauk-kan Thein
Temple, a museum where you can study the traditional
costumes and ornaments from the middle period of Mrauk-U Oo
Dynasty. Sunset from the strategically important
Haridaung Hill. Overnight stay at hotel in Mrauk-U. (B)
Mrauk-U
Day 3: Breakfast at hotel. Visit to Mrauk-U Oo
market. Then visit to Kothaung pagoda, old palace
wall, the palace site area and the Mrauk-U Oo museum. In the
evening, visit the Lay Myathnar pagoda, Pitaka
Taik, Laungbanpyauk pagoda and visit the village
to see the life style of Rakhine people. Overnight stay at
hotel in Mrauk-U. (B)
Mrauk-U – Sittwe - Yangon
Day 4: Breakfast at hotel. Early morning transfer
to jetty, then River cruise towards Sittwe. Upon arrival at
Sittwe, before proceeding to airport for flight to Yangon,
visit Sittwe market with local activities like fishing boats
comes and goes and porters loading down fish from the boats.
In the early afternoon, fly back to Yangon. (B)
